...and it's beginning to SNOW!
March 9, 1999 8:00 A.M.
Last night made me feel better about the balance of baby with Jean. Apparently the day went smoothly. When I got home Jean was holding the awake but quiet Colette on the love seat. After I settled in next to Jean, I held Colette - even though Jean was happy to hold her. Jean told me again that she's okay with the status quo, at least until she goes back to work.
Colette was great all night. Jean put her to bed at 12:30. She slept until 5:30 when I gave her a bottle. She was again alert but quiet and happy. What a cool baby! I love spending time with her, especially when she's relaxed enough to skip pacification.
7:30 P.M.
Jean is in the kitchen, boiling an avocado and three eggs. I have no idea.
Colette is in her bouncy seat next to me. She's still in her happy quiet phase. She keeps staring at the bookshelves. I don't know if that's because it's all that's there to her left, or if the general appearance of the books is more interesting to her than other parts of the room. Every minute or two I peek at her. She's usually just lost her pacifier but hasn't been upset enough to cry. I reinsert the pacifier and she's relaxed. She's about to drift off to sleep…
Lots of work to do these days. Tomorrow and Thursday we've got a gentleman coming from George Washington University to advise various offices on campus in the advent of our implementation of Banner's Alumni/Development system. I'm going to spend time tonight and just about all day tomorrow reviewing the procedures chapter from the Banner A/D manual. In a very short time I will need to train the Alumni/Development staff, so I am jumping at every opportunity to learn.
9:30 P.M.
Colette is half awake in the Snuggli strapped to my chest. She slept through our dinner, but woke up shortly after I sat back down at the computer. It's a good night. I feel like I can get things done – and Jean can too – and Colette still gets plenty of attention.
She's cute. She's grown noticeably since she was born. Mostly, it's her eyes: she's much more present when I talk to her. She listens. She's even getting close to smiling. In the morning when I wake her or in the evenings when I come home she makes the funniest faces. We're all settling in with each other, learning what works for everyone.
I loaded a few more pictures onto the Baby page. Be sure to take a look!

weather
SNOW! Richmond Virginia achieves snow during Spring Break! We're expecting an inch or so
here in the city. Tonight after work it seemed more like it was sleeting than snowing, but
the forecast still calls for more snow. I'll have to take Colette outside to make some snow
angels (kidding...I'm kidding).

A notify list, for those who'd like to know
each time I post a new entry. Before Colette arrived it was fairly easy to post every day. While I still plan
to post most days, the notify list may simplify things for you.
