WARNING CODES: United Kingdom. 1979. The United Kingdom Warning and Monitoring Organization used the color codes in Table 1 below to provide warning information to the general public.

Table 54-1. United Kingdom Public Warning Codes

Color Code Title Meaning Method
RED Attack Warning Immediate threat of air attack. (1) Rising and falling tones on a siren.

(2) Radio announcement by the British Broadcasting Company.

BLACK Fallout Warning Immediate threat of arrival of radioactive fallout. Three bangs in quick succession of a gong or maroon (an explosive signaling device) or blasts of a whistle.
WHITE All Clear There is no further danger. Steady tone on a siren.
