Linear regression models are understandable, explainable, and interpretable, which increases the likelihood that they will be used. However, many business problems are not predicatable in a linear manner, so these models tend to have relatively high bias. Other machine learning algorithms are more complicated and "black-box" in nature, but they often (not always) have lower bias.
