Customizing Your Desktop
If you will be working on a document or manuscript for a period of time
you might want to create a shortcut to that file on your desktop for quick
access.
- Open Windows Explorer and locate the icon for the file you access often.
- Right drag the file to your desktop area.
- Select Create Shortcut(s) here from the list of menu items offered.
To create a shortcut to your My Documents folder.
- Highlight your My Documents folder from Windows Explorer
- Right drag the folder icon to your desktop
- Select Create Shortcut(s) here as you drop it.
Printer shortcuts:
- Open the My Computer window
- Select the Printers icon.
- Right drag the printer icon to the desktop.
- Select Create Shortcut(s) here.
- You may drag and drop file shortcuts to a printer shortcut to print.
Create a shortcut to your floppy drive to quickly copy files to your
A: drive:
- Click open the My Computer window.
- Right drag the icon for your floppy drive to the desktop.
- Drop it to a blank spot on your desktop
- Select Create Shortcut(s) here.
