Description: A survey of the nature of science. Special attention will be paid to analyzing the nature and role of explanation, theory, law, observation, and hypothesis in natural science. Additional issues to be considered will include--how is science to be distinguished from pseudoscience? What is the relationship between values, culture, society and science?

Requirements: 20 Précis: 50%
  Term Paper: 25%
  Final Exam: 25%

Attendance: Every unexcused absence will result in a deduction of 1% from the total grade achieved satisfying the class requirements. You are responsible for all assigned material.
