1. Reread the first three paragraphs of Meditation II.
2. The third paragraph can be construed as Descartes having
a conversation with himself. Imagine that there is a Descartes
A and a Descartes B. Rewrite the third paragraph of Meditation
II, (beginning "But how do I know..." on p. 30) as a
conversation between Descartes A and Descartes B.
In order to make your conversation clearer you can, if you like,
(i) delete words, (ii) add words, or (iii) paraphrase Descartes.
Mark a deletion by using '...' in the place of deleted words
or phrases. Mark an addition by placing square brackets, [,]
around the added words or phrases. Mark a paraphrase by placing
round brackets, (, ) around the words that are not exactly Descartes'
words.
