XXI. Translate each of the following sentences into PL.

  1. Lions are ferocious, but tigers are not.
  2. If anything is ferocious, lions are.
  3. Any ferocious lion is best avoided.
  4. Diligent professors are neither overworked nor underpaid.
  5. Some clever students are not ambitious.
  6. No ambitious person is not a clever student.
  7. No car is safe unless it has brakes.
  8. Diligent professors are unhappy if they fail to get research published.
  9. Only members are allowed to enter.
  10. Cats are the only pets worth having.
  11. Only poisonous snakes are dangerous animals.
  12. The only non-members allowed are escorted guests.
  13. Only students are allowed unless some rule has changed.
  14. The only spies who are devious are evil if and only if the only dishonest politicians are crazy.
  15. Everyone respects at least one person.
  16. If anyone respects anyone, then everyone respects everyone.
  17. No one respects anyone, unless someone is respected by everyone.
  18. Some administrator respects some professor.
  19. Anyone who earns more than the president is a coach.
  20. Everyone who respects Bill hates George.
  21. If anyone hates George, then Al hates George; otherwise George is admired by everyone.
  22. Everyone who visits the University of Richmond admires some building.
  23. Some seniors never go to any college.
  24. Some professors are respected by some students, but some are not.
  25. If a professor is respected by no one, then he should not get tenure.
