Frames

Most graphical browsers have supported frames for more than a year. The idea behind frames is that you can have multiple web pages displaying simultaneously on a web page.

I haven't seen too many innovative uses of frames. Usually a web site makes one frame into a navigation tool, controlling the primary frame. You can see a rather conventional use of frames at sn.com. As you look at the site, watch how it loads (you're accessing multiple web pages, and each will take time to load).

One interesting use of frames can be found at the entropy8.

If you haven't guessed by now, I'm not a big advocate of frames. I think they complicate the visitor's experience of your site unnecessarily. If you want to explore frames, I recommend the BUILDER.COM article, "Fun With Frames".
