About me

These things are always tricky to write and often wind up sounding stupid. So here goes. I was born in New York City in 1964 and lived in the Bronx until I was 5 years old. My family then moved to a suburb of New York called Yonkers where I was raised and did the usual things a kid/young-adult does including attending Yonkers Public Schools and parochial schools.

I attended Stepinac High School in White Plains, New York and took an interest in mathematics and music (trumpet). I continued my studies in mathematics and music at Fordham University where I graduated with a B.S. in mathematics in 1986.

What next? Graduate school. I attended the University of Virginia, and, after 5 years and my advisor Tom Kriete's guidance, I graduated with a Ph.D. in mathematics in 1991. My research interests are in function theory and operator theory and I continue my studies in these areas to this day.

After a year at Lafayette College, I took a position at the University of Richmond where I've been ever since. At Richmond I teach most of the undergraduate courses we offer and even take on students for honors thesis. You can check out all of this off my main web page.
