WARNING CODES: United Kingdom. 1979. The United Kingdom Warning and Monitoring Organization used the color codes in Table 1 below to provide warning information to the general public.
Table 54-1. United Kingdom Public Warning Codes

| RED | Attack Warning | Immediate threat of air attack. | (1) Rising and falling tones on a siren.
(2) Radio announcement by the British Broadcasting Company. |
| BLACK | Fallout Warning | Immediate threat of arrival of radioactive fallout. | Three bangs in quick succession of a gong or maroon (an explosive signaling device) or blasts of a whistle. |
| WHITE | All Clear | There is no further danger. | Steady tone on a siren. |
